Welcome note

Dear Colleagues,

Pediatric Neurosurgery is truly an interdisciplinary enterprise, where many specialists work hand in hand for the best out-come of infants, children and adolescents with neurosurgical diseases. The interdisciplinary routine as common solutions for unexpected challenges are one of the main keystones for the success of Pediatric Neurosurgery.

After having had two German and one successful international Meeting for interdisciplinary discussion on pediatric neurosurgical topics since 2015, we are approaching in 2018 the 4th edition of "Interdisciplinary Pediatric Neurosurgery“, the forum format for  fruitful exchange between pediatric neurology, orthopedic and pediatric surgery, pediatric oncology, pediatric neuroradiology, pediatric neurosurgery and all associated specialists of the head region like ophthalmology, ENT and maxillofacial surgery.

This year’s forum will deal on one day with all interdisciplinary aspects around CNS infections, be it bacterial, viral or auto-immun. The second day will focus on the interdisciplinary management of cerebrovascular diseases in the pediatric age group.

The meeting will be organized by interdisciplinary teams from St. Augustin (M. Messing-Jünger and G. Horneff) and Duisburg (F. Brassel).

We hope to welcome you to the true excitement of interdisciplinary crossover, which will this year take place in the western part of Germany, in St. Augustin near Bonn.

With cordial regards
and on behalf of the whole interdisciplinary organizing committee

Martin U. Schuhmann, Tübingen
Ulrich-W. Thomale, Berlin
Martina Messing-Jünger, Sankt Augustin
